Variety Games Inc. was founded in 1988 on the premise that there needed to be more "family-friendly" entertainment.
Variety Games Inc. strives to provide games and entertainment that are uplifting, and can be used for personal enrichment and family activities.
The company has plans for releasing many new puzzle games in the near future, and holds patents on several new games, including new ways of solving and playing cryptograms.
Crossword Weaver was the first software package to be released by the company in 1992 under the name Plexus Word Weaver. The name was changed in 1997 to Crossword Weaver.
1-2-3 Word Search Maker was introduced in 1999, and has been a very popular program ever since.
